New documentary film resource for women, partners and families
|
After consultation with women in the group, and partners and families at our April workshop, we have started filming for this new documentary resource. The film will be produced in several digital formats (DVD, U-tube video clips) and target different audiences – women, partners and families and health professionals.

Over 25 women, partners and family members attended the April workshop. We had a Q&A with Dr Nicole McCarthy, a session on keeping active conducted by Dr Robyn Box, Physiotherapist, and facilitated small group discussions about the impact of living with advanced breast cancer, which was filmed as part of the documentary. Rather than a large group, we broke the groups into three – women, partners and parents, and adult children. The separate groups enabled participants to speak more openly about their own experience without having to worry about protecting the feelings of others.

We are currently working on adapting this successful workshop model with health professionals in regional areas in order to reach more women and families affected by advanced breast cancer in Queensland. If you would like to talk with us about developing a workshop for your area, please let us know.
